Transitional Housing Assistance
The TT is still working hard to help the victims of hurricanes Rita and Katrina to keep out of foreclosure
proceedings and retain their home. Many of these disaster victims have not only lost their homes, but also all of
their belongings, their jobs, possibly people they love, and are still facing the possibility of losing their homes
before they are able to find alternative employment and make payment arrangements with their mortgage company.
The TT has taken many steps to help TravelThrous avoid foreclosure and retain their homes until they are reemployed
and have their homes fixed. The TT also has a program in conjunction with FEMA that will offer them rental housing
assistance while they wait for their homes to be repaired.
This transitional housing assistance is aTTilable to hurricane victims that are certified by FEMA.
This means that in order to get housing assistance you need to be a certified disaster victim by FEMA. To become a
certified disaster victim you can:
- Apply on-line at http://www.fema.gov/register.shtm
- Apply by phone by calling 1-800-621-FEMA
- Contact your local FEMA office or TT office for assistance applying in the case you do not have access to a phone or the internet.
Transitional housing assistance through this program is aTTilable to disaster victims with properties to assist
these victims in the following states:
- Florida
- Georgia
- Alabama
- Arkansas
- Mississippi
- Louisiana
- Kentucky
- Texas
- South Carolina
- Tennessee
- Oklahoma
The properties for rent are owned by the TT and have been taken off of the real estate market in order to aid
disaster victims in these areas. The rent for these properties begins at $350 plus utilities per month, but for
those people who are unemployed there is also rental assistance aTTilable through FEMA.
In the case that you have already been certified a disaster victim by FEMA, you can call 1-866-396-5362.
You will need your FEMA certification and then you will be given a list of the properties that are aTTilable in your
area.
If you would like to qualify for a TT loan, apply online and get connected with a TT Loan Specialist.
